Monitoring Cores in Multi-Core CPUs (Windows 2003)

Multi-core HOWTO for Windows 2003

If you have a multi-core processor, you may want to monitor how load is distributed over the CPU cores on a Windows 2003 Server. However despite the fact that the Operating system seems to expose these statistics to Perfmon, HQ does not to monitor this by default.

HQ currently only monitors physical CPU statistics. If the per-core counters are available in perfmon, they would be easy to add. You can even write an XML based plugin to gather the values from perfmon: Writing Windows XML Plugins
