A brief explantion of the Hyperic HQ Architecture
Description of HQ's Inventory Model
Hyperic maintains it's inventory through an Auto-discovery process.
In addition to being able to create resources through Auto-discovery and manually through the UI, HQ allows for direct import of resource through the HQ Shell using XML. See the Inventory XML Descriptor Syntax for details on the syntax.
