Resource Type Alerts
HQ allows you to define alerts on individual resources as well as apply alerts to all resources of a specific type. Due to the sweeping nature of these alerts, only users with the appropriate permissions (specifically, permission to admin HQ) can create type alerts.
A Resource Type Alert is applied to every resource of the specific type that currently exist and new resources of the type that get created in the future. Resource Type Alerts are created on the HQ Monitoring Defaults Configuration page. You can navigate to this page by clicking the
link in the mast head of most pages in HQ, and then click the Monitoring Defaults Configuration link. As alluded to earlier, this link will only appear if the user that is logged into HQ has the appropriate permissions. The resulting page will contain all of the resource types that HQ is able to manage. There will be an
button for each resource type. To create a Resource Type Alert, simply click this button, click the
button on the resulting page and create an alert definition. See the Defining Alerts section for details. The resulting alert definition will be applied to all existing resources of the specific type, as well as any new resources of that type to be created. The alert definition can be disabled or deleted from this location just like any other alert definition.
When viewing the list of alert definitions for a resource, if that resource has Resource Type Alerts, those alerts will be listed with a red asterisk (*). Resource Type Alerts can be edited at the single resource level and the edits will apply only to the single alert. This is not recommended, however, because any edits, deletes, or disabling of the Resource Type Alert at the top level will overwrite your specific changes at the single resource level.
